Jason Austin Wiles was born the 25th of April 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Lenexa, Kansas, where he attended the Holy Trinity Catholic School.
Undecided after high school and having passed up the opportunity to play college football "I was a three-sport athlete, I had played sports so long, that I was burned out" he remembers, so he began to work for the local Parks and Recreation Department mowing lawns, laying baseball field lines and doing mantainance work while he also enrolled in some theater classes at Johnsons Community College.
In 1990, Wiles began to pursue an interest in film-making, working on the set of the movie Mr. & Mrs. Bridge which filmed on location in Kansas City."When everyone else on set was complaining about the grueling hours and hard work, I was like, I have arrived!, I could do this 18 hours a day, everyday for the rest of my life"he remembers. Not long after, the Sometimes They Come Back (1991) (TV), based on a Stephen King book, came to town and he worked on the crew as well as appearing in scenes as an extra. It was on the set of Mr. & Mrs.Bridge that Paul Newman imparted the words of advice that would truly resonate for Wiles: "He said to me 'Kid, you've got to pick a coast' and that was that, I decided to move to California."
After forming some connections while working on these films, Wiles ventured to L.A., the road to succes on the West Coast was not an easy one, in spite of the hardships, he refused to give up. He appeared in commercials before landing the lead in an after-school special. Many feel that his big break was a couple of years later when he took the role of Colin Robbins on Beverly Hills 90201 (1990), though others are more aware of his talent from his role as Bosco on Third Watch (1999). Recently he has begun to try his hand at directing and writing as well as theater. In the summer of 2002 he appeared in the Cape Playhouse production of "Mass Appeal" alongside Malachy McCourt, and in 2003 he was in Imua! Theatre Company's production of "Safe", which was co-written and directed by fellow Third Watcher Anthony Ruivivar. Upon completion of the final season of "Third Watch" (2005), Wiles began work on his independent film Lenexa, 1 Mile (2006) which he wrote and also directed. The movie wrapped in June 2005. In November 2006, Wiles traveled to Ely, Nevada, to direct Play Dead (2009) (V) his second feature film. He also had a small part in the 2007 movie Zodiac and played in a short scene in 2009's horror thriller remake of The Stepfather. He was one of the main characters in NBC's drama-suspense television show, Persons Unknown (2010) playing the misterious Joe Tucker. He will be the leading man in the thriller MoniKa, which we is currently in post-production and will not be released until 2012.
Married Joanne Roberts, a literary agent, on16th November 1996, they have two children, Georgia Blue born in July 2001 and Wilke Jackson born in June 2004.The couple has filed for divorce.
As a kid, Wiles was a self-described troublemaker with contempt for cops; now, of course, he plays one on "Third Watch" (1999). His attitude toward the police has definitely changed.
He has played a character Officer Maurice 'Bosco' Boscorelli in 2 different TV series. First time was his character in 'Third Watch,' and a second time in 'E.R.' Season 8 Episode 19 'Brothers and Sisters'; this was a Third Watch-E.R. crossover episode.
